Frequently Asked questions

We love getting questions, here are some answers that you might like to know!

Q & A

Feel free to send us any additional questions that you might have by using the contact section below. Let's get into it!

Question

What kind of Catamaran is Calypso? Calypso is a 2013 Antares 44i. She was built in Argentina. We've found that the Antares is one of the most solid catamarans on the market. If we were going to purchase a new boat, I don't think we'd look anywhere else, to be honest.

Question

Do you accept crew onboard? We are currently accepting applications for both short and long term live-aboard crew positions! Check for the links at the top of this page.

Question

What did you do before going sailing full-time? Jeremiah was an Active Duty U.S. Marine and Brittany owned two small businesses as well as being a Mother and Stepmother. Once Jeremiah retired, we sold everything and went sailing!

Question

How do you afford to sail full-time? We spent a long time pinching pennies, saving all we could as well as investing all we could. Jeremiah earned a pension and he's disabled which also provides him with a monthly income. That, with some residual income from our video series keeps us afloat. We've met so many cruisers out here without a pension though, so don't let that discourage you. It can be done!

Question

Does Brittany have her own platform? You can learn more about Brittany's separate platforms by viewing our blog in the members area of this site.

Question

What has been your favorite thing about sailing? Man, that's a difficult one. Probably those quiet moments while at anchor where it's just you...No outside world looking in, no deadlines....Just you and the water that surrounds you.

Question

What do you do about schooling for your son? Rhys is in homeschool. We take turns with his schooling Monday through Friday. At first it was a little challenging but we've all gotten into our groove. More about that will be in our blog section as well.
